I paint what I see..."My body of work consists mostly of oil paintings and ink drawings. The human form is my main vehicle of expression although animals and machines are also featured prominently in my work. I would like to say that my style is largely realistic, but reality is a very subjective matter. In short my paintings realistically portray the way I see the world. The technique of my oil paintings is a very direct and simple application of paint. I use thick layers, so often the shapes and textures of the paint are just as important to the piece as the subject matter. My line drawings on the other hand are not as meticulous. They are free expressions of thought, clean and whimsical. Sometimes I will use a drawing to plan a larger painting and other times I can begin a painting without a plan or even an idea. I don’t believe in having a permanent process, but rather I let each painting dictate the way it will be painted." JavaScript must be enabled to view images.
